This editorial-style pathology piece was intended for a 2-page spread in a popular science magazine, and it served as a valuable exercise in storytelling, composition, and digital rendering. We were tasked to portray the pathogenesis of a disease, and I chose to represent the degeneration of bone due to loss of blood supply. There are 3 anatomical scales coinciding in this piece: gross, tissue, and cellular. Successfully integrating the 3 scales spatially and temporally to form a coherent story was an exciting challenge.
